A New Year started over 30 days ago...

The snow forced me to have a me day; I cooked things picked up from the Winter CSA Roots & Fruits and I made some overdue telephone calls. The results: Today there is over a gallon of slow cooked French Onion Soup; Pear Cider as the special ingredient. The other items include potato & egg salad with 18 extra hard-boiled eggs, applesauce and some immediately consumed items with left-overs, such as a variant on Paella. These activities consumed many hours and literally brought me to tears several times; the nature of cooking with onions. Relaxing with tasks, sounds so me.

The life pause began after Sunday volunteer commitments. For adventure there was a trip to a discount store with my life partner. A $100 splurge yielded a cart with some never before purchased items like Chia Seeds. These seeds and other items like Coconut Milk are ingredient for Turmeric Smoothies, a recently suggested kick-start for the day. On a similar me day circa 2010, I purchased Turmeric for the 1st time. In preparation for this new exploration in better living I also bought three cans of pineapple rings and divided the contents in half and put it in the freezer, got frozen mango chunks and fresh, actually green, bananas. Today in smoothie #2 I used the pineapple. In the 1st smoothie I put 9 year old hemp oil. Why? Because when I got it it was special but did not know what to do with it. It has been set-aside as special in the refrigerator all this time. In the recipe coconut oil was the listed ingredient, hemp juice was an alternate content to coconut milk; so even without ever doing it has directions suggested once I revised. Something I do. It is rooted in part in the desire to be sustaining, and wise in the use of what I have. Maybe there is a hint of rebel too. I was also feeling guilty about all the special, very old stuff, I tossed earlier in the day. Finding: If I feel I can not afford the commitment to purchases ongoing but I get tempted enough too make an initial purchase I never finish the initial purchase, nothing extravagant by most standards, heart aspirin, Echinacea, multivitamins, and make-up.

I am about to return to the tasks that I fill my days with. I wonder if I am doing them by choice. In many ways I can absolutely choose what to do with my days but what I have chosen is an big idea to live within the propels me forward with so much that can be done that it is more than 30 days into the New Year. Big items in the cycle of the New Year like compliance reports are done (a good thing); yet my telephone calls were a follow-up to Christmas over 30 days into the New Year.
